# How to discount switch to Raven
If a Customer is switching from AyaNova 7 subscription to a Raven subscription, this is the system used to calculate the coupon code:
Note that officially we do not offer a free upgrade to a new major version so this is a reward to our loyal customers who shouldn't have to pay what Jayne Rando off the street pays.
This method ensures there is no possiblity of a negative cost to go to v8, covers the cost of processing and provides a fair and explicable offer to people.
Conceptually they are exchanging one subscription for a service management solution (whatever add-on's etc are irrelevant, it's a basket of goods that make up a entire solution) for a maintenance agreement for a service management solution.
## Ask what they are going to be buying
That is, how many user license (ensure they are clear on how the licensing works).
This is required to calculate their coupon code / discount (only so we can ensure we're covering the cost of our handling and processing).
## Calculate the percentage of time remaining on the v7 subscription
Does not matter if it's a new purchase or a renewal purchase for the current year, just figure out the days of the year left.
This is based on the tech license, not additional add-on's regardless of anything, add-on's are not part of this process at all and not considered.
For example if there are 159 days left in the customers v7 technician / scheduleable resource subscription on the day we generate the coupon code that's 159-1 (we take one extra day off to remove today from the equation)=158 divided by 365 = 0.4328767123287671 \* 100 rounded down to the nearest whole number= 43% discount.
### Bare minimum
If the amount approaches 100% or the discount would result in a sale of less than 15 dollars then it must be capped maximum whatever pct it it would be to cover the ShareIT payment processing fee of 2.95 so let's say 15 dollars is the bare minimum and maybe figure out what pct it takes to get there for the amount they are going to purchase.
## Create a coupon code for the %
In ShareIt under marketing and promotions make a coupon code valid for 3 days in the percentage calculated above, see how it was done for WE43PCT code for example.
Send customer coupon code via email and explain it's good for 3 days only.
