got http://www.servicetycoon.com/products/servicetycoon-vs-serviceceo-vazing-bluefolder-salesforce/ which has list of other software

other service software:

ideas on design AND ideas of features:

it should be really obvious where to click to create a new client, where to click to create a new service workorder, where to click - perhaps "shortcuts" at the top would make the most sense

track correspondence - tied to the customer, tied to the service workorder

dashboard which shows overview - shows quotes in progress, jobs in progress, xx days or week overview schedule screen for everyone,

checklist of stuff setup:

company info that somehow gets auto transferred to report templates?
company logo that somehow gets auto transferred to report templates?
see my list of suggested order to set up AyaNova - this should be a checklist in AyaNova when open up, when done, has a checkmark next to it, as well as link to "jump" user to where to go
i.e.
tax codes
security grups
users
rates
regions,
warehouses
etc etc
import clients or enter
import parts or enter
import units or enter

notifications are setup in the user entry screen, not by the user themselves in other programs - which is better, user has control over what they subscribe to, or admin sets them up?

examples show for workorder statuses, workorder types, etc etc

http://www.autotask.com/software/add-ons.htm (see contractor portal and other ideas)

AHHH...what a lot of software has is that the jobs are booked FROM the client's entry screen - cause you bring up the client entry screen to confirm that is the client etc.... whereas with ours, you open the entry screen, but then you have to exit out of it to be able to create a new wo or view wo's of that client

    Reduced pop up windows - Improves data entry process for techs on the go.

    Timer on orders - Timing your order adds a labor entry to the order based on the length of time tracked in the timer.

    Open issues - Techs can now access open issues, update issue status, update solution, and close the issue using TechPortal for SME.

    Unassigned orders - Techs can view all open orders that aren't assigned to a tech yet. Your dispatcher can assign orders to technicians directly in TechPortal.

    All open orders - Users can now view all open orders in TechPortal.

    Journal notes on orders - Added Messages button which provides access to read and add journal notes to the order.

    Team Collaboration - Technicians not only see work assigned to them, but also all unassigned work or other open orders so they can pick up work that is not assigned or help out other team members on work orders.

    Improved Parts Management - Techs can add parts directly to the work order so that you capture all parts used on the job allowing streamlined invoicing. If techs have a truck warehouse assigned to them, parts are automatically depleted from their truck stock. If techs need to order parts, this gets instantly identified on the work order.

    Full cost capture - Techs add everything to the order from TechPortal including time, expenses, and parts so that true job costing can be captured.
